Bodine Orthodontics Patient

Did you know that over 4 million people in the United States wear braces and over 20% of them are adults? A beautiful and straight smile isn’t just a trend, it is a way to a better and healthier lifestyle.

With so many options, which one is right for you?

Traditional Braces

These are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable and smaller today than ever before. These are usually the most effective solution and use stainless steel metal brackets and wires to move your teeth into alignment over time. Metal braces are the most popular with kids and teenagers because they are customizable by using different color ligature ties.

Cosmetic Brackets

Similar to traditional braces, cosmetic brackets are a bit more discreet because the brackets and wires are clear or tooth-colored. Since the brackets are a ceramic material, they are more delicate than the other options.

Lingual Braces

These are virtually invisible when you smile because the brackets are mounted on the back of your teeth instead of the front. Because they are made to look as though they are not there, lingual braces are 100% customized to match the shape of your teeth.

Invisalign

This “clear” option is a series of custom-made clear aligners (trays made of smooth plastic) and are replaced every 1-2 weeks to gradually and precisely align your teeth. They are also removable, allowing you to comfortably eat, drink and properly floss and brush your teeth.

What are the benefits of braces?

  • Straighten teeth that have grown in crooked
  • Re-align the jaw, for healthy bone growth in children and to prevent jawbone deterioration in adults
  • Correct overcrowding, allowing you to brush and floss properly, so you’re at a lower risk for gum disease and tooth decay
  • Align incorrect bites such as underbites, overbites, and crossbites to protect your teeth from wearing away over time
  • Help give you more self-confidence! You will smile more with healthy and straight pearly whites

The sooner you or your child comes in for the initial visit at Bodine Orthodontics, the better because braces can be crucial to the future of you or your child’s oral health. It’s important to remember that even as an adult, it’s never too late to get treatment for crooked teeth or a misaligned jaw.
